Thank you London 2024!

Jreena Green teaching her Authentic Jazz - from Lindy to Charleston Masterclass

Our 2nd Annual UPROOTED London Jazz Dance Intensive was a huge success. Running for 4 days this year, we had an incredible faculty of jazz artists and educators who shared their vast and insightful knowledge of this wonderful art form to the dancers in the room. We had dancers from Finland, Spain, Portugal, Poland, America and all over the UK. The feedback was incredible and we cannot wait to return in 2025!

We had teaching artists from London, Germany and the USA come and join us to share their brand knowledge of this wonderful and broad art form.

Jreena Green (picture above) is a master teacher for Authentic Jazz - covering from Lindy Hop to Charleston. We were also lucky enough to have Robin Gee fly in the America to teach her West African Dance class and Nicholas Pamlquist flew in from Germany to teach a Commercial Jazz class. Other teaching artists included Johnny Bishop, Bly Richards, Zak Nemorin, Camden Loeser, Christie Manning, Bafana Matea, Claire Miller, Gregory Haney, Aisha K and Ash Mukherjee.

The feedback from the dancers in the room was awesome - head to our Jazz Dance Intensive 2024 page to look at some of the photos captured over the 4 days. Below are just a few of the testimonials we received.

“As I attempt to find the words to express my emotions on this experience.. wow. I am left speechless. Uprooted was something that I didn’t realize my soul more than anything needed. This program healed me in a brand new way and allowed me to dance freely without worry. I felt myself give into deeper tendencies and let go, knowing that I could dance for myself in these moments. It was the refreshment I was craving. The ability to step into a room and not feel judged for what my body had to say that day in a new country with new faces made a huge impact on me as a person. The energy was unmatched and allowed me to build many strong relationships during my time here as every artist was connected through a strong love of jazz dance. We were all eager to receive the true teachings of this art’s evolution from its past and as it continues to develop still to this day. The diverse faculty each taught meaningful classes. not to throw out combinations or have us nail perfect technique. Instead, they educated us (with history, context, & purpose), guided us (through any troubles we were facing), and nurtured us (showing compassion to each individual in the room, reminding us that we all matter). It was heartwarming to say the least. I felt pure joy in every collective moment shared with other artists, as individuality was welcomed and encouraged. Thank you so much @ldrcreativellc for providing this opportunity for healthy growth. I am ever so grateful that the universe led me to @uprooted.film . I have been shaped for the better through this new journey.” Eva Viciana.

“UPROOTED Jazz Dance Education provides the educational and spiritual depth that's missing from many of the mainstream workshops. The importance of the mind, body connection coupled with the historical background that brings the movements to life has diamond quality... It shapes a person's character and facilitates growth and development on a deeper level. It's not about showing off or showcasing tricks. It's about the essence and origins of dance.

This workshop was a breath of fresh air. Both enriching and enlightening. We are pretty new to the dance world . Khi Khi has only been training in classical dance styles for 4 years, since lockdown 2020. We've seen a lot of money making choreography workshops. I call them 'Movement Without Substance'. They usually consist of a bunch of kids vying for attention instead of knowledge, growth and connection.” Khi Khi
